Service scope is confirmed against engineer competence, available technical information, required test equipment and parts support before acceptance.

Independent Assurance

Independent assurance of your biomedical maintenance provider.

Outsourcing biomedical engineering does not remove the healthcare organisation's need for visibility and governance. OHM can independently review an existing biomedical service program to help determine whether the contracted scope, maintenance activity, documentation and performance indicators are being delivered consistently across the equipment fleet.

The review can be tailored to a specific contract, a hospital, a health network, an equipment category, a high-risk equipment group or a sample of assets.

A 98% PM-completion KPI can still conceal important risk if the remaining 2% contains high-acuity or repeatedly overdue equipment. OHM's review can look beyond the headline KPI to the underlying asset and service data.

Service Policy

The right engineer for the right device.

Biomedical engineering competence is not interchangeable across every medical device. A ventilator (such as the ZOLL bellavista 1000e), anaesthesia workstation, patient monitor and air/oxygen blender each require different technical knowledge, service procedures and verification equipment.

OHM uses a competence-led service model. Before accepting device-specific work, we consider the equipment model, requested service, engineer training and experience, available technical documentation, required test equipment and parts support. If those requirements cannot be met to the standard expected for the work, we do not allocate the device as routine service simply to complete the job.

This is particularly important for high-acuity equipment such as anaesthesia systems, ventilators, patient monitoring and specialised respiratory equipment, where generic biomedical experience alone is not a sufficient basis for device-specific service.

Independent Third-Party Service

Independent service for supported GE HealthCare equipment.

OHM's biomedical engineering team includes engineers with substantial experience across critical medical-device portfolios, including GE anaesthesia and patient-monitoring equipment. For supported models, OHM can provide an independent third-party service option for healthcare organisations seeking experienced technical support outside an OEM service contract.

The key principle is competence. OHM does not accept a device simply because it falls under a broad category. The model and requested work are reviewed against the engineer's training and experience, available service documentation, required test equipment and parts pathway before the service scope is accepted.

Anaesthesia Systems

GE Anaesthesia Equipment

Anaesthesia workstations combine gas delivery, ventilation, monitoring interfaces and software-controlled safety systems — service should be assigned to engineers with relevant product knowledge, not treated as generic biomedical maintenance. OHM has engineers with prior experience in GE anaesthesia equipment and can offer independent service for supported models, including preventive maintenance, inspection, performance verification, electrical-safety testing and fault assessment. Every anaesthesia request is reviewed model-by-model before acceptance.

Patient Monitoring

GE Patient Monitoring

OHM's team experience includes patient monitoring and related clinical monitoring environments. For supported GE monitoring equipment, OHM can assist with planned maintenance, inspection, performance verification, fault assessment and technical service within the confirmed model and service scope. Where central stations, telemetry or networked monitoring are involved, the requested work is separately assessed — system-level configuration and software support may require different access, credentials or OEM involvement than a standalone bedside monitor.

Do you service every brand of medical equipment?

No. OHM follows a competence-led service model. Device-specific work is accepted where we have the appropriate engineer training and experience, technical information, tools and test equipment for the requested scope. We would rather decline unsupported work than treat a complex medical device as generic maintenance.

Can OHM audit our current biomedical service provider?

Yes. OHM can provide an independent engineering review of an outsourced biomedical maintenance program. The scope can include asset coverage, PM completion, overdue work, maintenance records, KPI and SLA performance, engineer-competence evidence, repeat faults, equipment downtime, obsolescence reporting and other agreed service indicators.

Is the biomedical program audit a regulatory certification?

No. OHM provides an independent technical and engineering review. It is not an accreditation or regulatory certification of the service provider. The output is an engineering assessment that can inform governance decisions — not a formal compliance or accreditation determination.

Can you audit our asset register without taking over our maintenance contract?

Yes. Consulting and assurance work can be commissioned independently of ongoing maintenance. OHM can review a full fleet, selected facilities, a particular equipment class or a sample of assets depending on the objective.

What does AS/NZS 3551 cover?

AS/NZS 3551:2012 — Management programs for medical equipment — specifies procedures for developing and maintaining equipment-management programs. It covers procurement, acceptance and ongoing management activities, not merely electrical safety testing. OHM supports medical-equipment management activities aligned with AS/NZS 3551 where applicable, together with manufacturer requirements and customer policies.
