What It Is

Purpose-built medical UPS, not repurposed IT backup power.

Standard IT UPS systems are not designed for the electrical safety, portability and reliability demands of clinical equipment. Zopec's medical UPS range is engineered specifically for biomedical use — pure sine wave output, silent fanless operation for infection control, automatic instant switchover, and zero-maintenance operation across a multi-year service life.

OHM Medical IT supplies the full Zopec range in Australia — from compact transport batteries through to high-capacity ICU and neonatal transport power — plus home and travel backup batteries for CPAP/BiPAP therapy.

Specifications drawn from Zopec and OHM Medical IT product documentation. Confirm compatibility with your specific equipment before use — all Zopec Medical UPS models can be evaluated via a free trial for eligible Australian healthcare organisations.

Compliance Context

Standards that govern patient-area power.

Hospital electrical installations and emergency power planning in Australia are informed by AS/NZS 3003:2018 (Electrical Installations — Patient Areas) and AS/NZS 3009 (Medical Electrical Installations), alongside IEC 62040 for UPS performance. These standards govern the facility-level power reliability context that a portable UPS device supports — they apply to the installation and emergency-power planning, not as a certification of the UPS unit itself.

Equipment Compatibility

Which Zopec UPS suits your equipment?

Zopec's medical-grade UPS platform is used across critical-care transport, NICU and EMS applications internationally. Typical backup runtimes below are manufacturer-published figures at standard settings — actual runtime varies with device load, flow rate and ambient temperature.

Zopec Model Equipment Typical Backup Runtime

UPS 90 PureDräger VN500 ventilator~6 hours
UPS 90 PureGetinge Servo U / Servo I ventilators~2–3.5 hours

Runtimes are manufacturer-published typical figures at standard settings and will vary with device load, ambient temperature and flow settings. Contact our team to confirm expected runtime for your specific equipment and clinical scenario.

Common Power Gap

Keeping Fisher & Paykel Airvo 2 and 950 humidifiers running through a power interruption

Fisher & Paykel's own Airvo 2 instructions state that if power is lost during use, therapy stops and will not resume automatically once power is reconnected. Fisher & Paykel does not manufacture or sell a UPS for the Airvo 2 or 950 Respiratory Humidifier, and its documentation directs users to contact third-party UPS manufacturers to confirm compatibility. The Zopec UPS 90 Pure (model HF110UPS90P) is named in Fisher & Paykel's own published compatibility documentation as one such third-party option, and mounts directly to the equipment pole alongside the Airvo 2, Airvo 3, MR850 or MR950.

Evaluate before you procure.

OHM Medical IT supplies the Zopec Medical UPS range in Australia with local support, formal quotations and a free two-week evaluation trial for eligible Australian healthcare organisations — so you can test compatibility, real-world runtime and workflow fit with your own equipment before committing. Longer evaluation periods are available by agreement.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zopec UPS listed on the ARTG?
Zopec Medical's battery backup and power-supply products are included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) as Class 1 medical devices, sponsored by Zopec Medical LLC (ARTG 478166, 478167, 478305), and are designed to meet IEC 60601-1 and IEC 62133-2. Electrical safety tested to AS/NZS 3551 by OHM Healthcare prior to delivery.
Are Zopec UPS units designed to IEC 60601-1?
Zopec medical-grade UPS units are designed to meet IEC 60601-1 requirements for use in clinical environments — the international standard for electrical safety of medical equipment near patients.
What is the difference between medical-grade and standard UPS?
Medical-grade UPS meets IEC 60601-1 leakage current and isolation requirements for safe use near patients. Standard commercial or IT-grade UPS units are not tested to these patient-safety-specific requirements.
Can I use a Zopec UPS with an Airvo 2 or other HFNC device?
Compatibility depends on the specific device power draw and required runtime. Contact our team with your device model and clinical scenario for application guidance.
How long does a Zopec UPS run on battery?
Runtime depends on the model and the power draw of the connected device.
Does Zopec UPS require preventive maintenance?
Zopec UPS systems are designed for a low-maintenance, zero-scheduled-service operating profile under normal use conditions.
What warranty applies to Zopec UPS?
The Zopec UPS 270 carries a 5-year warranty. Contact our team to confirm warranty terms for other models.
Can Zopec UPS be integrated into a medical cart?
Yes — Zopec UPS units integrate into our WOW/COW medical cart configurations for uninterrupted clinical computing.
How do I get a medical UPS quote for my hospital?
Contact our team with your equipment list and clinical workflow, and we will recommend the appropriate UPS specification.
Why does Zopec UPS use lithium-ion instead of sealed lead-acid batteries?
Lithium-ion cells have a substantially higher cycle life than sealed lead-acid, so Zopec UPS units are designed for a multi-year service life without the routine 6–24 month battery swap-outs that lead-acid UPS systems typically require — reducing scheduled maintenance visits for biomedical teams.

Keep critical equipment powered, wherever it moves.
